Responsible Finance Market Overview: Senegal

This two-page brief provides a quick overview of institutions, regulations, challenges and outlook for the microfinance sector in Senegal, with a focus on responsible finance. It also describes the responsible finance agenda of Association Professionnelle des Systèmes Financiers Décentralisé du Sénégal (APSFD - Sénégal), with its goal as the attainment of the professionalization of the microfinance sector in Senegal. The association strives to develop a sector that is innovative, integrated with the financial sector, inclusive, and able to meet legal requirements. This paper shares learnings from the Responsible Finance through Local Leadership, a program implemented by the SEEP Network in Ghana, Uganda, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Rwanda, Benin, Côte d'Ivoire, and Mozambique.
