This document highlights the assistance provided by USAID in the worst hit Tsunami areas of India, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Indonesia.
The document deals with the following:
- Work done by USAID in providing training to communities in India in order to prepare them to face such calamities in future;
- Ways to respond quickly and to make effective use of local materials available to public in such situations;
- USAID's assistance in Thailand to establish purifying water units with other partners;
- Introduction of new coir processing technology by USAID in Sri Lanka.
Apart from this, the document also discusses the ways in which USAID is assisting the Indonesian youth to learn new trades to earn their living. It also provides the figures allocated by USAID for Tsunami rehabilitation and reconstruction.
