What’s Next for MIX Market: The Foundational Dataset Moves to the World Bank’s Data Catalog

Blaine leads operations and products for MIX. Since the launch in 2002 of MIX’s first online platform, MIX Market, Blaine has worked with global and national stakeholders and a team of analysts to further industry development through reporting standards, benchmarks, rankings and other information products. Since 2011, he has launched MIX’s strategic drive to support information-driven decision-making through new products including, market analysis and portfolio reporting solutions and to enable tracking and analysis of financial inclusion within local markets. Blaine has more than 15 years of experience in microfinance and financial inclusion. Prior to joining MIX, Blaine helped develop the start-up operations for a Moroccan MFI, Al Amana, and collaborated with UNCDF on the development and roll-out of an online microfinance training course for donors and practitioners. He holds a B.A. from Claremont McKenna College and an M.I.A. from Columbia University, School of International and Public Affairs. Blaine speaks English, French, and basic Arabic and German. 

Henry is currently an Associate Fellow at Oxford University’s Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship, building on his experience across finance, emerging markets, impact investing and political and economic development. He is also a Trustee and Investment Committee member of the Wenner-Gren Foundation. Previously, Henry served as the Head of Research & Advisory at responsAbility Investments AG and oversaw its thought leadership, technical assistance and ESG/impact integration strategies. Henry was also a member of the GIIN Investors' Council.  He has also spent time at Morgan Stanley, serving as a Vice President for Emerging Markets Debt investing, as a founding member of the Microfinance Institutions Group and as part of its Latin American Private Wealth Management division. Henry has held positions at the World Bank, GEXSI, UNDP, and the Government of Costa Rica.  He holds an MBA from Oxford University, an MPA from Harvard University (Fulbright Scholar) and a BA in Political Science from the University of Costa Rica. Henry is currently a PhD Candidate at ESCP Europe where his research focuses on impact investing. Henry currently serves as Chairperson of MIX’s Board of Directors. 

Robert Cull is a Lead Economist in the Finance and Private Sector Development Team of the World Bank's Development Research Group. His most recent research is on the performance of microfinance institutions, African financial development, Chinese financial development and firm performance, the effects of the global financial crisis on developing economies, and the design and use of household surveys to measure access to financial services. He has published more than thirty articles in peer-reviewed academic journals including the Economic Journal, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Economic Perspectives, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Law and Economics, and the Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking. The author or editor of multiple books, his most recent co-edited book, “Banking the World: Empirical Foundations of Financial Inclusion” was published by MIT Press January, 2013. He is also co-editor of the Interest Bearing Notes, a bi-monthly newsletter reporting on financial and private sector research. 

Greta Bull is the CEO of CGAP and a director at the World Bank Group. Ms. Bull has 18 years of experience in development finance, primarily focused on small and medium enterprise finance, microfinance, and digital financial services. She has worked with both financial services providers and policy makers in Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, and South Asia. Her clients have included banks, microfinance institutions, mobile network operators, and fintechs. Before joining CGAP, Ms. Bull was a manager for Financial Institutions Advisory Services at the International Finance Corporation. Other career highlights include serving as director of the Finance, Banking and Enterprise Division at DAI Europe and holding senior-level positions at the Eurasia Foundation.
