Low-Income Financial Services Market Sizing and Fintech Assessment: Peru Country Report

This slide deck is a supplement to the CGAP Blog "Why Don’t Fintechs Have a Larger Share of Peru’s MSE Credit Market?" (June 2023). 

The deck presents the findings of research commissioned by CGAP as part of its work with Simon, Kucher & Partners (SKP) to establish the status of access to finance for MSEs and the size of the credit market across four different geographies, including Peru. What stood out most from research in Peru was that fintechs, despite their potential to meet financing needs, are only responsible for a minuscule 0.3 percent of the MSE credit market. The research explores some possible explanations for why that is and draws out findings.
