Green Inclusive Finance in Sub-Saharan Africa: Enabling Environments, Challenges and Opportunities

Sub-Saharan Africa is a highly vulnerable region where climate-induced risks are strongly interconnected and amplified by socio-economic issues, such as extreme poverty, lack of access to basic services, reliance on biomass for cooking, insufficient access to clean water and sanitation, and gender disparities.

This report examines how impact investments can foster inclusive and sustainable economies in Sub-Saharan Africa. It highlights the critical role of financial service providers (FSPs) in mitigating climate risks and promoting green financial products that enhance the resilience of vulnerable communities. Despite regulatory and infrastructure challenges, the report identifies significant opportunities for investors to support comprehensive environmental strategies, develop products tailored to local needs, and strengthen cross-sector collaboration.
