Sending Money Home: Contributing to the SDGs, One Family at a Time
This is the fifth in a series of Sending Money Home reports issued since 2007 by International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and its partners. Over this period, migration and remittances have become an important item on development agendas for governments and international organizations. This report is directly relevant to two current United Nations initiatives: the Global Compact on Migration and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Migrant workers and their families back home are essential to the success of both endeavors.
The report provides data and analysis of remittances and migration trends for developing countries over the past decade, as well as the potential contributions of remittance families to reaching the SDGs by 2030. The findings in this report are based on a series of studies and surveys commissioned by IFAD and on analyses of World Bank data undertaken by IFAD.
