Global Report on Poverty Measurement with the Progress out of Poverty Index
This publication discusses on Grameen Foundation's Progress out of Poverty Index (PPI) which is used to objectively measure client poverty. It lists the 200+ organizations that have reported that they are using the PPI and identifies trends among those organizations in terms of their missions and locations. It states that these organizations include non-profit organizations, for-profit businesses, investors, networks, and rating agencies. These organizations collectively operate in countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. The report also discusses on the poverty interventions employed by the PPI users which include microfinance, employment and livelihoods, agriculture, technical assistance and consulting, funding, and humanitarian aid and development. It provides short case studies on a small number of organizations using PPI such as Alalay Sa Kaunlaran, Inc. (ASKI), Friendship Bridge, iDE, IFC, InterMedia, Opportunity International, Root Capital, and Samasource.
The publication intends to commend the organizations that are using the PPI for their commitment to social performance management. It hopes to serve advocates of social performance management by illustrating how poverty measurement with the PPI has been received around the world.
