AQUADEV was born in 1987, in a university context, through the will of some students convinced of the need for acting in solidarity with the populations of the poorest countries. How could they doubt the common humanity destiny?
Initially interested in the role of water in the development concerns (the association former name testify it), the founders were caught up with the reality of the Nineties. Reduction in assistance towards the poor countries, increase of the inequalities around the world, fast and divergent evolution of the developing countries situation, erosion of the standard of living of their inhabitants, but also an increasingly complexity of the development challenges.
The question of the means assigned to solidarity with the poor countries can be address only collectively and at an international level. While participating at an organization international networks aimed at an international solidarity, AQUADEV takes part in this step.
They are three main sectors: the microfinance (decentralized financial sector and support to the small and medium businesses), the nutritional security improvement and the environment in urban environment.
