Developing Reporting Indicators

Developing social performance tools and standards

The Social Performance Task Force is developing standards and tools for the measurement of social performance.

Social Performance Indicators Subcommittee

A Social Performance Task Force subcommittee is currently working to develop a common reporting framework. Click here for a background PowerPoint describing the process the subcommittee has taken to date.

The goal of the subcommittee is to select a core set of indicators that can be standardized and reported on a wide scale for assessing social performance. The set of indicators will be finalized after inputs from MFIs, donors, investors, and practitioners are collected.

The indicators are being selected according to the following criteria:

  • Indicators that MFIs can easily report on (ideally, drawing from data already captured by their MIS systems, or can easily be added)

  • Indicators that are objective: can be verified by third parties
  • Indicators that are globally comparable

The indicators fit in to a common framework that was developed by the task force. This can be found under 'Social Rating and Reporting: Towards a Common Framework.' The Task Force considers this framework to be a suitable basis for fit a common reporting framework for standardized reporting on a wide scale.

The indicators fit into the following categories:

  • CONTEXT:
    • Organizational Profile
    • Financial Services and Access
  • PROCESS:
    • Social Performance Management
    • Social Responsibility
  • RESULTS:
    • Social Goal: Outreach
    • Social Goal: Appropriate Services
    • Social Goal: Change (including Impact)
