These conferences gather experts from all around the world including non-government organisations, development-aid organisations, and the insurance industry to exchange experiences and to discuss the challenges of extending insurance to low income households.
The Fourth International Microinsurance Conference will take place from 5 to 7 November 2008 in Cartagena, Colombia. This year's event will be co-hosted by the CGAP Working Group on Microinsurance and the Munich Re Foundation, and supported by Fasecolda, FIDES and the Superintendencia Financiera de Colombia.
The topics are: Technology, Capacity building, Regulation, supervision and policy issues, and Innovative products and distribution channels. The conference language is English, but translation in Spanish will be available.
Previous Microinsurance Conferences
The third edition of this event, the 2007 Microinsurance Conference MAKING INSURANCE WORK FOR INDIA, was held from 13 to 15 November 2007 in Mumbai, India with the support of IRDA. More than 300 participants from over 50 different countries attended this conference.

The Microinsurance Conference 2006 MAKING INSURANCE WORK FOR AFRICA was held in Cape Town from 21 to 23 November 2006 with the support of Finmark Trust. The South African insurance experience provided a valuable backdrop and insights to this conference.

Regional Workshops on Access to Insurance for the Poor
The World Bank in collaboration with Munich Re Foundation and the CGAP Working Group on Microinsurance is organising a series of regional workshops on ACCESS TO INSURANCE FOR THE POOR.
The first regional workshop was held from 7-8 May 2007 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with the support of the Superintendencia de Seguros Privados (SUSEP), Association of Insurance Supervisors of Latin America (ASSAL), Insurance Association of Brazil (FENASEG), and Federacion de Aseguradores Colombianos (FASECOLDA).
The second regional workshop on microinsurance was held from 16-17 January 2008 in Beijing, China.
