A new technology sub-group has been set up with a mandate to identify and promote various leverages of technologies for a larger outreach of transparent and inclusive microinsurance services.
The sub-group will look at:
- Software (microinsurance operations, pricing, budgeting);
- Hardware, technological tools (field device, GPRS based...);
- Database (e.g. practitioner database setup, indicators publishing, life tables);
- Participative and collaborative tools leveraging on existing publications/data from existing different sources.
The technology sub-group is still in the process of defining its deliverables and anyone willing to contribute in this domain is welcome to join the discussions on Google group place: http://groups.google.com/group/MIWG-Techno
Next steps:
- An web based inventory and/or marketplace where we can store description of technology (Smart cards, mobile phone techs/softs, ATM, MIS, pricing/actuarial package.....), costs, providers, and user rating.
- A collaborative project for other soft/modules/techs.
- Benchmarking database.
