The sub-group capacity building applies a two-tier approach:
- General activities within the CGAP Working Group on Microinsurance are linked to the activities to the Performance Indicators sub-group;
- Project related activities in India and Indonesia in cooperation with international agencies.
Under the first approach, GTZ is providing funding for a “Microinsurance Introduction” (including a business plan format). In cooperation with the Performance Indicators sub-group, the following materials and training courses will be developed:
- Microinsurance introduction (incl. business plan) for MFIs/NGOs;
- Training course on the publication Microinsurance Introduction for MFI/NGO managers;
- Training course for MFI/NGO staff members on the basis of the performance indicators handbook (incl. fact sheets);
- TOT of all trainings mentioned above for strengthening local training providers.
For an overview on microinsurance training courses, a separate section on training and capacity building will be set up under the Website of the CGAP Working Group on Microinsurance.
The process of jointly developing materials and training courses involves: The collection and feedback of existing materials, adjustment of existing tools, peer group review of all drafts, sharing experiences during workshops, review of course curricula with trainers and practitioners, and joint funding (by ADA, BRS and GTZ).
