Learning to Use the New Poverty Tools that Measure $1 a Day Poverty

About the event
The workshop is for CEOs and COOs of MFIs; staff of international networks; evaluators; academics; donors. Objectives of the workshop:

  • Be familiar with some of the complexities of poverty measurement;
  • Be aware of how poverty measurement fits within the broader context of social performance management;
  • Have learned how MFIs can take advantage of poverty assessment to measure other components of client assessment that will assist them to improve their products and services and better meet client needs.
  • Be clear on the difference between poverty measurement tools and those tools that are more appropriate for targeting the poorest;
  • Have become familiar with at least one poverty assessment tool;
  • Be aware of the basic process that would be involved for their organization to carry out a poverty assessment;
  • Be aware of the quantitative skills, different types of persons needed, and size of budget to implement the tools.
